The Only Detox I Recommend: A Dr. Cabral Detox Review
After the 7-day, 14-day, and 21-day rounds, here’s why this is the protocol I return to every season, and the one I recommend to clients.
I’ve tried more detoxes than I can count: juice cleanses, herbal protocols, elimination diets, coffee enemas. With doctorates in natural, functional, and nutritional medicine, I’ve either tested each protocol on myself or reviewed the science behind it.
The Dr. Cabral Detox is the one I keep coming back to. It isn’t because of sponsorship. It’s because of how it works, what it did for my own body, and what I see in the clients who follow it. Below I’ll walk you through what it is, how the protocol runs day by day, what I experienced across all three versions, who should and shouldn’t do it, and which version to choose.
“This isn’t a cleanse. It’s a full-body, functional medicine detox system that works at the root, and that’s exactly why it works.”

What Is the Dr. Cabral Detox?
Created by Dr. Stephen Cabral, a naturopathic doctor and the founder of EquiLife, the Dr. Cabral Detox is a liver-focused functional medicine protocol. It supports phase 1 and phase 2 liver detoxification with a combination of Ayurvedic herbs, functional medicine nutrients, and a simple dietary framework.
Most detoxes simply flush the colon or restrict calories. This one supplies the B vitamins, vitamin C, antioxidants, amino acids, and minerals your liver needs to neutralize and excrete toxins. That matters because toxins need to move along the full pathway: fat tissue → bloodstream → liver → colon → out.
Without nutritional support for the liver, toxins released from fat tissue can recirculate instead of leaving the body. That’s a big reason so many people feel worse on typical detoxes, not better.
How the Protocol Works, Day by Day
The 14 and 21-day versions repeat this cycle
Liquid phase
Half servings of the Daily Nutritional Support (DNS) shake, plus Ayurvedic detox capsules and functional medicine herbs morning and night. Water and herbal tea are allowed. Digestion gets a rest so the body can focus on the liver.
Nourishing food phase
Full DNS shakes (15g vegan protein and a full day of vitamins and minerals), plus whole-food meals built on a simple template: clean protein, non-starchy vegetables, and a healthy fat. No gluten, dairy, eggs, alcohol, or caffeine.
Repeat cycles
The 14-day is two rounds of the 7-day framework, and the 21-day is three. Each cycle goes deeper into stored toxins, inflammation, and hormonal imbalance.
Everything ships to your door: the DNS shake powder, the Ayurvedic detox capsules, the functional medicine herb capsules, and a clear guidebook with a shopping list built around foods you likely already buy.
My Experience Across All Three Versions
The 7-Day
My first round. Days 1 and 2 aren’t comfortable, and a mild headache on day 2 is common as the body starts mobilizing toxins. By day 3, when real food came back, I felt a clear shift: lighter, clearer, less puffy. By day 7, my bloating was gone, my energy held steady all day with no afternoon crash, and I’d noticeably dropped water weight and inflammation.
The 14-Day
The second round deepened everything. My skin was clearer, and I reacted less to foods that used to bother me. My sleep became deeper and more restorative, and the quiet, constant sugar cravings simply faded. Coming out of the 14-day, I felt different in my body, not just temporarily lighter.
The 21-Day
This is the version that produced hormonal-level change for me. By the third week, my mood was more stable, my energy was consistent from morning to evening without stimulants, and stubborn facial inflammation had visibly calmed. It’s the version I recommend to first-timers, and I explain why below.
What Results Can You Expect?
Everyone’s starting point is different, but these are the changes I see most often, in myself and in clients.
Less bloating and more comfortable digestion.
Fewer afternoon crashes and less fatigue.
Calmer, less inflamed, less puffy skin.
Reduced water retention and bloat-related weight.
More restorative sleep and easier mornings.
More stable mood and hormone-related symptoms.
Sugar cravings quiet down.
Clearer thinking and better focus.
Replenished nutrients while toxins are cleared safely.
These results line up with how the liver works: when its detox pathways have the nutrients they need, fatigue, digestion, and inflammation tend to improve.
Which Version Should You Choose?
A quick reset or seasonal maintenance. Best if you’ve done the detox before. Many people notice less puffiness and better energy within the week.
A deeper cycle. A good fit if you’re working on skin issues, hormone imbalance, or stubborn fatigue.
Three full cycles and the most thorough reset for gut, hormones, skin, and weight. My top pick for your first round.
If you’ve never done this detox before, start with the 21-day. Your body needs time to work through layers of stored toxins. Once you’ve completed a full round, the 7-day works well for quarterly maintenance.

My Tips for Getting the Most Out of It
- Choose the chocolate shake. The vanilla has an aftertaste with water alone. Chocolate is enjoyable, which makes it easier to stay consistent.
- Prep your days 3–7 food ahead.Meal prep on the evening of day 2 so you’re never reaching for something off-plan. Keep it simple: grilled salmon, roasted vegetables, olive oil, greens.
- Add infrared sauna sessions.I pair every detox with infrared sauna to support toxin elimination through the skin. The Therasage portable sauna is what I use. Code NATURALLYRESET saves you money.
- Start on a weekend.Days 1 and 2 are the hardest. If you work Monday to Friday, start on Saturday so you can rest if you need to.
- Make it seasonal, and do it with us.This isn’t a one-time reset. We’re exposed to environmental toxins every day, so regular detox is maintenance, not a luxury. Our community detoxes together every quarter, which makes it far easier to stay on track.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be hungry?
Some hunger is normal on days 1 and 2, since they’re liquid only. The DNS shakes still provide protein and a full day of micronutrients, so your body stays nourished. Days 3–7 include full, satisfying meals, and most people feel surprisingly comfortable.
Can I exercise during the detox?
Light movement like walking and yoga is encouraged. Pause intense training on days 1 and 2, then ease back in from day 3 based on your energy.
What about coffee?
The protocol eliminates coffee. If quitting cold turkey gives you severe headaches, one small black coffee in the morning is fine as a transition, but aim to be off it by day 3.
Is this detox safe for men?
Yes. It works just as well for men, and benefits like energy, body composition, mental clarity, and hormone balance matter for men’s health too.
How soon will I see results?
Many people notice less bloating, clearer thinking, and better energy by day 3 or 4. Skin and hormonal changes usually show up in the second and third weeks of the longer versions.
The Verdict: Is It Worth It?
My practice is built on finding what works at the root, not what’s trendy, and I don’t recommend products casually. The Dr. Cabral Detox is one of a small handful that has earned a permanent place in my client protocols and my own routine.
If you’re bloated, exhausted, hormonally out of balance, carrying stubborn weight, or simply know your body needs a deep reset, this is the protocol I’d put in front of you first.
“Do the 21-day first. Give your body the time it needs to clear years of accumulated toxic load. You’ll feel the difference.”
